This (and the 2nd book) ticks all the boxes of what makes a good comic: lovely dialogue, superb black and white art with great use of panel design and good plots both of which have much fun with literary horror conventions. The first in the series introduces us deftly to DCI Harker and DS Critchley (cue witty, dry banter) and their investigations into a suburban Satanic murder (cue playful Dennis Wheatley riffs) plus it's all set in a beautifully rendered London. The two cops bounce of each show more other quite wonderfully and they carry the plot at a fair old pace, keeping the reader unsure where its all going to end up. What's not to like?

Both collections are standalone stories but of course you get that warm glow of recognition from reading them in order. Highly recommended for comics, horror and crime fans show less
