This story thrusts you into the dark and dangerous world of mafia politics. Diarmuid O’Sullivan is a compelling antihero, faced with choosing a bride from three uniquely trained women—Selene, Amira, and Niamh—while vying for power in his family and navigating the influence of the sinister Hands of Kings cult. The tension is palpable, with power struggles, secrets, and betrayals lurking at every turn. The dark themes and complex characters kept me hooked, and the mature content added an show more extra layer of intensity. This is all amplified by the narration of Scott Rose, Ava Flynn, Maeve York, and Scarlett Rose McCloughan. Each narrator brings depth to their characters, capturing the dark and dangerous world of mafia politics and the complex emotions of Diarmuid and his three potential brides. The accents and voices are spot-on, making the characters feel real and immersive. The pacing and tone perfectly match the story's tension, adding layers to the intricate plot. This audiobook offers a captivating listening experience, making an already compelling story even more engaging. It's a dark, intense ride that leaves you eager for the next chapter. show less
Ella has been groomed all her life for this day. She was raised for Lucas Andrew O’Faolain the third, and only him. There are rules. She must follow them or else. But then she meets him, her prince charming. The beast who humiliates her…hurts her…loves her. And then the punishment. She never had a chance with him. His path was chosen for him by his monster of a father and she will be dealt with. The terror is real and no one will save her.

Lucas hated his life…his family. He did not show more want to go through with the charade of picking a wife. And then he saw her. Her beauty. Her defiance. But he can’t have her. His life is in his father’s hands. Her life is being threatened and he needs to save her. He will sacrifice himself for her, but is it too late?

What a wild ride! Lucas and his family have power and their own source of justice. Unfortunately, the power is filled with evil and there are all kinds of secrets that are coming to light. Perhaps Lucas is the exception to his family, but he has violent tendencies that make one wonder about his stability. He is doing his best at trying to save Ella, but I think he can do better. I guess I’ll see in book 2. As for Ella, she’s surprisingly defiant and troublesome, but when one is promised happily ever after and gets this madness, it could set anyone off. Let’s hope she can find happiness. Supporting characters like Hannah and Jessie are needed for Ella to keep her sanity. As for Master Andrew and Henry, you can’t get anymore psycho or evil. And Alex? Another reason to ready book 2.

Overall, I couldn’t put this book down and have book 2 preordered. It is filled with intensity and surprises around every corner. And let’s not forget the chemistry between Ella and Lucas. Very hot considering their circumstances. It’s beauty and the beast with a twist. If you enjoy dark romantic suspense with extremely evil characters, give this book a try. A note that book 1 ends in a cliffhanger.

What an intense ride this book puts the reader through, and I enjoyed every second of it. This book is captivating and tells the story of a girl in the place at the wrong time and the consequences that may or may not have benefited her. Scarlett is homeless and steals a candy bar so to keep from being caught she runs and ends up seeing something she wishes she never had. This causes her to come face to face with sniper Dean and at first, he wants to kill her, but he is drawn to her for some show more unknown reason he doesn’t want to know. Dean is a professional at his job he doesn’t make mistakes, but once he has Scarlett, he isn’t sure if he wants to keep her or kill and sometimes its both all at once. As Dean sees it, yes, he wants her for his own, but he is keeping her safe by feeding her and housing her. Scarlett has suffered tragedy from a young age and has had her own decision made for her even when she doesn’t want them to be so she ran and now she is in the clutches of what she believes is a monster. She fights Dean everyday trying to gain her freedom, even if she homeless she needs to feel like she is making her own decisions to keep her darkness at bay. These two have a chemistry but they both fight so hard against it. In the end can they both fight their demons and be together or is it too late to change who they are and have to let each other go? I can’t wait for more. show less
Willow is this quiet girl that believes she has a darkness that dwells deep within her, so she allows her pristine mother to dictate her every move. She doesn’t fight against the tidal waves her mother sends her way she is always willing to do whatever it takes to stay in her good graces, and it made me so made for her. Willow’s mother marries into a dangerous family that has ties into illegal things and along with this family comes her stepbrother, Rian. Rian is dark, mysterious, show more ruthless, and Willow finds herself intrigued by him. She knows she needs to stay away from his darkness but for some unknow reason her darkness is drawn to his. Willow’s mother was a character that was so manipulative and used Willow’s insecurities against her all the time and I was so glad when Rian helped Willow see that she deserved better and helped take up for her. So many twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat and I was routing for Rian, I know he is a bad guy but he honestly had a heart of gold but only for Willow. This has been one of my favorites in this series because I loved how protective and loving Rian was with Willow, I will be rereading this one over and over again. show less
