If you are learning to read/speak Mandarin and/or are interested in the language you will find this a fascinating and useful book. The author/illustrator show how many of the most used Chinese characters became what they are today, and once you understand that you understand and remember the words and the characters. Not a book for a complete beginner, my view is that you need to have been learning the language for a couple of years and then it comes into its own. I have found it really show more worthwhile. show less
