The suspense builds as the author weaves together the life of Denise, who found the moneybag and the warp and woof of the crimeworld and government, who try to recover it. It's a witty, well-written book. The author has a pretty good grip on the courts and a pretty good knowledge of Old Town Alexandria. Plenty of twists.
Big, bold text and simple illustrations give this picture book the feel of an easy reader. That is probably the best way to use the book because it reads like one story about Bob Wire's life. For me, the rush through a set of events undermined the depth and colorfulness of what makes tall tales wonderful.

Pros: This is a picture book that demonstrates the genre of tall tales for young readers.
