This book gave me warm fuzzies. Yes. It was a bit of a mind f*@%. There were scenes that made me cringe. There were also scenes that should have made me close the book but didn’t. It was all down to how Seven Rue painted them with her words. Her perspective shed light and illustrated how beauty is often found within the shadows.
I loved how the book left me feeling just a bit unstable throughout my reading of it. Just when I thought I had figured something out, the plot took a slightly show more different turn. It wasn’t anxiety inducing or even unpleasant. It was more like that feeling of getting seven chicken nuggets when you ordered six.
Raw should be up on the pedestal with books like Hale, Like Dragonflies, Quillon’s Covert etc...
Disturbingly beautiful. show less

Mood boosting kinky romance
This book made me feel good about myself. Amidst all the kink, there was a massive subtext about self confidence. You are who you are. Go you!
The kink was took me out of my comfort zone at times but it wasn’t nightmare inducing bad. Just not my thing. In a way, this made me happy. It reminded me why I love Seven Rue’s writing. She pushes boundaries. She writes with passion.
‘Fiftysix’ is not your average age gap romance. The interplay between Valley and show more Riggs took precedence over issues of age. It was such a delight to read about them. I can only hope to read more about them. show less

“Society thinks it’s wrong, but out here, we create our own rules.”
This was an interesting read, and certainly one that deserves to be available to readers.
I came for the taboo darkness and I stayed with characters who sometimes verged on seeming to naive to live, but author Seven Rue kept me engaged and guessing as to what the outcome would be.
There are triggers galore in this work. The author even takes a couple of pages to reinforce them in the middle of the novel, something I show more hadn't encountered before but I think it works here.
I respect Seven Rue for pulling this off and I'm keen to read more of her work.

I really wanted to try and read this book. But it was so boring.
The 2 stars are not because of the taboo or the incest, I knew what I was getting into, it was because the characters were bland, and the storytelling was dull. I would've given it 5 stars if it was executed right, but was I disappointed when that didn't happen.
Frennec - I mean he wasn't bad, but he had the potential to be so much more than just an average hero, or in this case an antihero. I mean recently I've read Killswitch show more by Penelope Douglas, and she did such an amazing job to make Damon Torrance an antihero, but also to make the reader fall in love with him. This, unfortunately, was not the case with Fren. Also I know it's fiction and blah, blah, blah, but I don't think the description of his sociopathic and psychopathic ways was completely accurate
Vespyr - This was one boring bitch. I couldn't stand her. I don't know if I've read about dumber or more naive heroine, and this is a low, even for the romance genre. Everything she did was so irritating. And wasn't she diagnosed with schizophrenia because of her vivid dreams, once Frennec admitted that he was creating these "dreams", she sould've stoped the pills .
The end felt way too fast-paced and illogical, and the plot twist was non-existent.
I know this book was supposed to create shock and chaos, but the author needed to do a better job.
The only reason why I give it 2 stars is, because of the bravery of Seven Rue to publish this and deal with the backlash, however, the book is not good enough, and I wouldn't read it again. show less
