The two volume Bible History References written by F. Ruppert is an extremely helpful reference. Volume one contains historical, social, geographical, archaeological and doctrinal notes as well as charts, illustrations and maps that will aid in understanding the Old Testament. Volume two contains the same type of information for the New Testament. For example in volume two there is a picture of a foot lamp used by the ancients at night. There were no street lights in the cities, and of show more course no lights in the country. These foot lamps lighted the way for people at night. We have three complete sets of these references. They can be found on the library shelves under the number 220.9/RUP. show less
Bible History References: Explanatory Notes on the Lessons Embodied in the "Comprehensive Bible History for Lutheran Schools"; Vol. II: New Testament Stories by Ferdinand Rupprecht
I, personally, find this to be a most interesting book with wonderful insights into scripture. It is not the most indepth history one man find, however, the commentary on what is discussed is actually quite excellent, though plainly stated so as to allow comprehension by even the basic of readers. I only wish I had Vol. 1 to go along with it.
This little book has so much information, photos, measures etc great for the Bible buffs and those who want to know
