This book teaches a child how to draw a dragon, and when coupled with pieces of literature from other genres, it can provide a cross-curriculum support connecting art with literature. This book would be recommended for 3rd grade an older. While some 2nd grade students may have the eye hand coordination, the drawing is simple yet precise. The best age to introduce the book would be in upper elementary when the students have strong eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills are more show more developed. This book, coupled with a bok like Eragon by CHristopher Paolini could spark the imagination and perhaps spawn an interest in drawing which has previously been untapped.
