Not a bad one this month. The 40K content is cracking! The Metalican System and Index Hereticus: The Fallen articles are both great, and the hobby content relating to the Fallen is good too. Definitely going to make some of them. Phil Kelly's piece on global campaigns was interesting, and the Golden Demon Winners Challenge contained some amazing pieces. I also enjoyed the Battle Report: The Bell Tolls For Thee and Jervis's piece on updating Blood Bath At Orc's Drift. Didn't care for the show more Flashpoint: Broken Realms bits, or the Skaven modelling stuff. I enjoyed this month's Chronicles of the Wanderer - this series really blows hot and cold, sometimes its awful and sometimes pretty good. show less
This one is better than last months, I enjoyed the AoS stuff more than usual - the Tale of Four Warlords and Realm of Slaanesh stuff is a good read. The battle report is great too, I can see myself angling towards a new Genestealer Cults army. Flashpoint: Charadon is better this week, perhaps because the Death Guard are more interesting than Necrons. The low point is (again) Callum Davis's short story, which gives away the twist in the title. David Guymer's Whitebeard series is much better show more this month and was a well written fluff piece. show less
Not a bad issue, but it feels like the stop-gap it was. In general the guest editors between Matt Keefe and Lyle Lowery were well chosen. Tony Cottrell leans toward Forge World products and games, which is cool, I enjoyed the Necromunda article and the Horus Heresy painting guide, and will be using the weathering guide really soon. The Tale of Four Warlords was pretty good as usual, but there was a bit more AoS content than I am really into.
Another uninspiring edition. The best bit was the section on Golden Demon level painting. There are some great minis in here, but not many articles that I found interesting. Robin Cruddace on the reasons behind some of the changes in 9th edition 40k was a good article, and I enjoyed the AOS background on Spiderfang Grots even though I don't play AOS. A Blood Bowl battle report was quite good too. The rest just felt like filler, though maybe players of the various games wouldn't agree!
