Lethal Action by Logan Ryles is a very highly recommended action thriller featuring ex-military Army Ranger Mason Sharpe. This is the ninth book in the series but it can be enjoyed as a standalone novel. The opening flashback has Sharpe rescuing WHO workers from an Ebola infected war zone, which provides a clue to the plot.

It's winter and Mason Sharpe has been working at a lumber mill in Prairie Junction, Iowa, for the last three months. He is shocked to wake up one morning, hearing show more helicopters and obvious military equipment. Prairie Junction is under orders by the governor to be under a strict lock down, quarantined. Armed National guard soldiers in hazmat suits are enforcing martial law, setting up roadblocks, and not answering questions. Sharpe manages to get outside the quarantine zone to check on a friend's mother. He discovers her body and recognizes the cause of death - Ebola. This is the beginning of an action-packed investigation into what is really going on and Sharpe is holding nothing back to get answers.

Lethal Action is a lightning-fast-paced thriller that has Sharpe using all of his military experience, intelligence, and discernment to uncover what is really happening. He takes incredible risks to discover the truth and the scope of the deception is shocking. He manages to contact Dr. Evelyn Landry with the CDC, who understands Sharpe's concerns and immediately comes to Iowa into the fray. The action intensifies to explosive levels.

Make no mistake, you will have to set a major dose of disbelief aside in several areas and overlook a few inconsistencies (for example Landry's hair color changing). However, the plot and the action make it easy to do. In fact even while noting glitches, I was all in and committed to the end. That in itself is a huge recommendation. The plot is shocking because recent events make it more possible than anyone would want to believe.

Mason Sharpe is an extraordinary character for a military based action thriller. He is resourceful, smart, and capable. He will do whatever it takes to uncover and expose the corruption and the threat. Thanks to Inkubator Books for providing me with an advance reader's copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary and expresses my honest opinion.

Knock Out by Logan Ryles
Mason Sharpe #8

Fast-paced, action-packed, thrill-ride from beginning to end ~ I had not read previous books in the series but had no trouble getting into the story and following it throughout. There might have been previous stories that would have fleshed Mason’s character out more but enough was there to be fine without it.

What I liked:
* Mason Sharpe: ex-military, ex-police detective, lost his fiancée in the past and is still carrying that pain, strong, show more intelligent, puzzle solver, stands up for the underdog, always gets back up, not invincible, suffers as humans do, a good man, learning and growing as he moves through life
* Riley Vaughn: FBI agent under cover, younger sister was murdered brutally, skilled motorcycle rider, still grieving, works well with Mason once they start working the case together
* Spencer Meyers: loves his family, trying to provide for his sister who has cancer, supporting of his sister and mother, makes some poor decisions for the right reasons
* The action scenes and that people did get hurt even though they were the good guys
* That I was smarter than mason and Riley in figuring out what the Gateway Hounds and their boss were up to before Mason and Riley figured it out
* That the bad guys were dealt with
* Wondering where Mason will end up next

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Being a bit surprised by the mention of the Bible in more than one place in the book
* Thinking about the loss of innocent lives
* Thinking about how evil some people are and what they are willing to do for their own gain

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Perhaps

Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Fallout by Logan Ryles is a highly recommended thriller. This is the eighth book in the Prosecution Force series and very highly recommended for those already following the series.

There have been two nuclear blasts, at the Panama Canal and in Azerbaijan. Reed and four other members of the CIA's elite Prosecution Force are being held and tortured in Azerbaijan. The White House is trying to prevent global war, but with the president ill, Vice President Stratton is in charge. The world is show more careening toward WWIII while leaders from Russia, China and Iran are missing and unavailable to contact. Separated from the others, Lucy is shell-shocked and in a daze, and, while Turk has the intelligence information needed, he has no way to get the information back to Langley. He also needs to rescue the missing team members, but it is clear that troops in Azerbaijan are preparing for war at the border with Georgia and Russia.

This is a tension-filled, action-packed, heart-stopping thriller that takes off at a gallop and doesn't let up until the end, which will leave readers longing for the next installment of the series. It will hold your complete attention throughout. Fallout really is a riveting thriller. The strength and sense of purpose of all the characters is impressive. The only drawback for me was starting the series here, with the eighth book. After reading Fallout it became clear it might have been better to start at the beginning and follow the team to this point.

Fallout is a perfect choice for those who enjoy action-packed thrillers and are already following the Persecution Force series. Thanks to Severn River for providing me with an advance reader's copy via Edelweiss. My review is voluntary and expresses my honest opinion.

Mason Sharpe a Phoenix PD detective suffers a personal loss and heads to North Carolina and stumbles across a body on the beach. He's suspicious of the way the local police handle it and soon finds himself an unwelcome visitor in town by asking questions no-one wants answered. Fans of Jack Reacher will enjoy this clever plot around small town corruption and the light shone on it by an outsider who takes no prisoners.
