I love this book! Radical Acceptance is a heartfelt, compassionate guide to embracing ourselves fully, flaws and all. Tara Brach’s writing is gentle yet powerful, blending personal stories, mindfulness practices, and Buddhist wisdom in a way that feels deeply relatable. I found myself reflecting on my own tendencies to resist or judge my experiences, and the book encouraged me to approach myself with more kindness and presence.

That said, some sections can feel long or repetitive, and show more readers looking for a quick, actionable self-help manual may need patience to absorb the lessons fully.

Despite this, the book is profoundly transformative. Its focus on self-compassion and acceptance makes it a perfect companion for anyone on a journey toward emotional healing and inner peace. Reading it felt like receiving guidance from a wise, understanding teacher, and the lessons have stayed with me long after finishing.

radical acceptance is a skill that has transformed my life - i suddenly feel much less concerned with control and power, and instead i’m learning to see the beauty in letting go and letting be.

tara brach does a great job with rich, vibrant stories and legends that always lead back to one of the main tenets: loving kindness, radical acceptance, the buddha, and the self. tara brach adeptly describes what could be considered difficult to understand for a lot of people - radical show more acceptance is sometimes counterintuitive to self preservation. we never want to feel the hard feelings. we never want to lean into the skid. but RADICAL ACCEPTANCE: EMBRACING LIFE WITH THE HEART OF A BUDDHA teaches us that we don’t have to give anything up to practice radical acceptance.

the capacity to love deeply and be peaceful and free is within us all - we are all equipped with a true nature that yearns to let go of the reins and experience life as it is. one of the most important aspects of this is understanding that radical acceptance does not mean inaction - rather, it means action with acceptance.

i’ve knocked off a star because tara brach, though clearly brilliant, gets repetitive. she tells a lot of stories about her clients, and they always wind up finding some peace or understanding with radical acceptance, which i thought was too convenient to be representative of how most people will react to introducing radical acceptance.

this is a book that i will return to. i think in a lot of ways, i’m not in a place spiritually or emotionally to reap the full benefit of tara brach’s work with radical acceptance. i only hope i remember and use some of the wisdom from this book - i recommend that everyone read and learn from it.

For a (previously) very staunchly "anti self-help-book person," I believe this is the most helpful book I have ever read re: self. I reached for this mostly for futher Buddhism study, but also to get through a rough patch in life. And wow, did it help. It is rather amazing the things I uncovered about how human beings act based on usually pretty simple needs (fears, attachments, desires, etc.) gone awry - when all along, the peace and solace lie within. I guess I always knew that, but show more somehow this book made me understand the dynamic a whole lot more. Brach is a wonderful author who works hard to get us all to love ourselves again, and in turn, make the world a better place (helping yourself ultimately helps the love we are able to give others - or really, they work in tandem). I will definitely check out other works by her and will recommend this one highly, to many, many people ... in my journey through life. show less
