Roozeboos

The Dutch artist Anne Roos Kleiss, who uses her childhood nickname professionally to remind herself to approach her work with the fresh eyes of a child, says she came up with the concept for this debut — created on colored paper using crayons, markers, colored pencil and ink — while drawing outside at a public pool: “I saw a little boy who kept feeling the water to see if he could jump in. This is a delightful book regarding friendship and the importance of honoring the feelings of each other. Aya and Oskar are close friends. Oskar is outgoing and very talkative, making friends where ever he goes. Aya admires his ability to make friends easily.

Oskar's moods sift suddenly, and he has periods of other directedness, and then bouts of time when he is sad and introspective, not wanting to be with anybody, he is alone in his room.

Aya tries to understand what happens when he is so show more very sad, and she tried to give him space. This is a simple book with a very important message regarding honoring the emotions of our friends and the importance of not taking it personally when a friend hibernates.

Roozeboos schreef en illustreerde dit prachtige, dynamische, kleurrijke, eetlustopwekkende kinderboek. Ze vertelt het verhaal van Daan de fietskoerier die de wereld doorheen de stad voert, met eten uit alle hoeken van de aardbol.

We leren de restaurants en koffiebars kennen waar Daan de bestellingen gaat ophalen (gebaseerd op echte zaken in Rotterdam), we ontmoeten de mensen bij wie hij gaat leveren en krijgen show more ondertussen nog wat informatie over de maaltijden die hij rondbrengt (pad thai, quesadilla’s, macarons en nog zo veel meer overheerlijks).

De tekeningen van Roozeboos zijn gezellig rommelig, kleurrijk en typerend voor een diverse stad. Je kan er uren in verdwalen (stad, boek én tekeningen). De details maken het voor mij helemaal af, denk aan: konijnenpantoffels, vlierbloesemlimonade of een rosse kater.

Groot en klein gaan smullen van dit boek! Fan, met honger of eerder: goesting. show less
