A standard text of what was a simplified daily office (and hence accessible to the laity) prior to the reforms of Vatican II. The little office used a limited set of psalms (mainly from the gradual psalms) and variation was restricted by three seasons, corresponding to the seasonal changes in the Saturday Marian masses.
