Clara has a dream : land the lead in the high school musical, Grease. As her dream comes true, she meets the handsome Sam, and falls in love. But Clara isn’t like other teenagers. She is a witch. And according to witch’s laws, she is supposed to marry a guy she has never met in a few weeks. Defying the council’s authority, Clara and Sam escape, without imagining the terrible consequences and punishment that will follow.

It is the second book of the Unstable Magic series that I read, and show more I was not disappointed. Emily Bybee has an incredible talent to create extraordinary characters evolving in a world where humans and witches coexist. Even if all the books can be read individually, each of them focusing on a different character, they all form together a perfect coherence, moving forward in the Unstable Magic universe and story.

Clara and Sam’s story is sad and dramatic, a reflection of the dark and heartless laws of the witch’s world . But is also full of hope, as the revolt rumbles and the resistance sets up among the witches. I am really curious to know what will come next. But one thing is certain : I am in love with Emily’s characters.

I am reading Book 1 of this series to prepare for Fatal Magic, Book 2, which I am reviewing for a blog tour very soon.

Are you afraid someone might hear that your daughter sucks at being a witch? They already know I’m a Defect.” “Don’t use that filthy word,” she said, her cheeks shifting from white to red. “Oh no, another scandal for the family.

Maddie has to pass the test for witches or her powers will be taken away, her memories erased, or worse. She doesn't want to end up like show more her Aunt Clara who is a Drone and does the council's bidding, a magical terminator so to speak. When the handsome and snarky college student, Jax, assists in discovering a clue to her lost power and her secret by accident, she enlists his help to find out more before it's too late for both of them.

The characters are well-developed in Ms. Bybee's first book in the series. Maddie is knowingly frustrated at the belittling and doubts about her abilities as a Defect, but as her confidence increases, the transformation is heroic and oh, so satisfying to watch.

I enjoyed this fast-paced, funny, and suspenseful start to Ms. Bybee's Unstable Magic Series and look forward to reading more very soon!

Kira is a water witch, but her spells always end the same : if you are lucky, a lot of rain, if you are less lucky, a very big storm. Incapable of controlling her powers, Kira is, as called in the Witch Community, a Defect. Tracked by fellow magical beings, Kira travels around the world, hiding and using her powers to bring water in deserted places. But she rapidly notices that the enemies are closer than she thinks.

If you love strong female characters and Urban Fantasy, you will surely show more enjoy Droplets of Magic. It is packed with action, worldly adventures and water. A lot of it. Also a Love Story. But it is a little complicated.

Even if the adventures of Kira are interesting by themselves, I particularly loved when she joined the team of other Defects. Seeing her interacting with others gave more depth to the character, and helped me understand how deeply wounded she is. The other characters are extremely interesting as well, and I am really curious about them. It certainly made me want to read the other books of the Unstable Magic series. Droplets of Magic is the fourth book, but books can be read separately, as each of them focuses on a different main character and follows a different Defect. Emily Bybee ‘s writing is really pleasant and the book is definitely a very enjoyable fast read.

Started with a grease play and progressed nicely with action. It was an interesting read. Though I am not big on magic I found I quite enjoyed the story. The gore and violent bits aren't much, it was glossed over. You should definitely check it out. Its worth the read.
