It's astonishing to realize how much TCP/IP revolutionized the way the world works. When this book was first written, there were still a dozen or more fading competitors to the TCP and IP protocol suite (including OSI, SNI, DECNet, and others too obscure to mention).
If you honestly need to understand how all the bits and pieces of the network works, and need to implement (or update) them, this book is a must for your book shelf. Do NOT buy this as an ebook; it's something you need to be able show more to bookmark, and to look at figures showing packet headers, and variable names, and so on.
It's another one that you need on your bookshelf. show less
