Takes a good while to get up to steam but still ends very strong and fun, and in the meantime all the slow progression litrpg crunchiness is in full display. Overall really fun and good at being what it is. A nice entry in the series.

Also Houston, Texas lmao. As a born and raised Houstonian I was, uhh, not expecting it to make an appearance. Is the author from Houston??

such a sucker for this series it’s so good. always enough of a focus on characters to stay grounded—the author knows what’s important. I want the next one to be out!

This book starts off very well and only gets better as it goes. The author has the characters well thought out and they make logical choices. I didn’t find anything in the book that would make me stop and think “what the….” In any way. All that being said…the plot is fantastic and the way that the character learns and grows is fantastic. I was never into collecting cards as a kid. But I definitely wish I lived in this world just so I could collect these ones. I also love the show more limitations and rules that this author uses to keep the mc from becoming all powerful. There are checks and balances in place that make the people have to struggle in relatable ways. show less

This book threw me off a little. The plot took a turn that I completely did not expect. I loved the different turn though. You see how people take a different approach to life than what is readily available. You also start to see more of the world and ways of life that get your imagination running.
