A book about "thinking" by an F-16 and F-35 pilot…that sounded pretty interesting to me, holding a couple of FAA Certificates. Every chapter starts with a real world anecdote, often from the author's own time in the cockpit over Afghanistan, to make his point, plus some historical insights from Eisenhower making the D-Day Go/No Go decision to Desert Storm strategery to Larry Page and Sergey Brin trying and failing to sell their web crawler idea so they were forced to go into business for show more themselves founding Google. The stories themselves are entertaining in and of themselves, but worst of all, Hasard Lee made me learn stuff, too. It's not really a "how-to" book, so much as an attitude adjustment in critical analysis, decision making, non-linear thinking, and mental toughness. Presenting the ACE concept of Access, Choose, and Execute—it reminds me of another fighter pilot, John Boyd, who developed the OODA loop (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act). Pretty smart guys, those fighter pilots. show less
