An excellent text. Often when inequality and oppression is being discussed it is done through the political social and economic lenses. The writers in The Paradox of Urban Space add a 4th lens, spatial relationships into the mix. With significant insight (and heavily footnoted for further study) the authors dissect place based inequality from its roots in the American Dream to current day realities of mixed use development, public housing, urban revitalization and gentrification. The Paradox show more of Urban Space Not only discusses the problem but also discusses solutions from the point of view of the members of the community as well as from the viewpoint of professional planners in order to find that more equitable future. A true must read for activists. show less
