Gave a lot of answers that were more for patients and friends or family. In many of these type books they pile on the science. This one was much more helpful than those. I don't care why, I want to know how to help, or what to do.
This wouldn't be my top choice of books on bipolar disorder in children and teens, but it does have a few pluses among the books I have read. First, it is a quick read and is organized into a question and answer format which makes skimming very easy. Secondly, I'm finding it very interesting to see how different doctors find different medications to be their "most effective". As I'm dealing with my child's doctor, this has been enlightening. Another thing I found very helpful was the section show more on how a healthy lifestyle can improve the disorder, specifically the parts about meditation and relaxation. Dr. Burgess includes some of his favorite tools in the book that can easily be copied and used at home. show less
