Lili and her mother did not feel safe in their home country and feel threatened by an area gang member. They decide to flee to the United States, where they find happiness eventually. The book shares the step-by-step experiences of this family. The story is told in a rhyme, but it is still a little text heavy. The illustrations are full and share the emotion of the characters. The book’s topics are a little heavy for show more young kids, and this book is better suited for reading in 2nd-4th grades, preferably with a parent or teacher to help discuss.
