Author Story Notes: Like most humans, I'm a beneficiary of, a willing participant in, and a victim of love. The Love's Call stories began as a speed writing warmups based on randomly selected prompts. One of the prompts was the question, "What does romantic longing and love feel like for mythic creatures?"

I often find these "prompts" to be successful "homework" but I'm not usually fond of the stories. As with this one. A mermaid has a traditional obligation to place an order show more for marshmellows on a payphone for the kin's party but she gets distracted.

I wasn't fond of the premise, so I started skimming this one, but found the writing effective enough to carry even the weak premise.
