If you want a cookbook w/ snarkily written side tips on every-single-page, small bites using animal shaped cookie cutters & really odd food combinations, well this is the book for you.
Cowboy Cookies: Yams/sweet potatoes, New Mexican chili powder, filet mignon/pork tenderloin...chipotle aioli
Fois Gras & Jam: Just what it says...... Really?
French Fried Polenta
Bee Stings: Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese & honey
Cucumber Shooters: Cucumbers, jalapeño, lime juice & mint
Fish Cakes: Salmon, panko.... show more topped w/ some type of whipped potato
Psychedelic Caviar: Salmon roe & green wasabi caviar on a slice of lemon
Cocktail Dates: Dates, Parmigiano-Reggian & bacon
And many more odd offerings
But there were some recipes that seemed more to my taste:
Haiku Halibut: Halibut, miso on cucumber "noodles"
Samurai Scallops: Scallops, sesame oil, cilantro, sesame seeds (the ginger, I'll omit)
Finger Lickin' Shrimp
Inside-out BLT: Tomatoes instead of bread....
Lucky Duck: Duck, Grand Marnier, green onions, & won ton wrappers
And many more delicious foods show less

This is one of the half dozen cook books I brought to china with me. There are only a few recipes in this book and each includes "Le Secret", "Aventure Club", "Garnish", "Suggested Accompaniments", "Notes", "Alternatives", "Music to Cook By" and "Wine". It's an entertaining cook book to read! Two of my favourite recipes are Chez Bob's Caesar Salad and California Carbonara. He also has good instructions for making a martini - I'll have mine extra-dry, with vodka and several olives.
fun book! he shows you his sense of humor in food like his other books! pictures of all the food + on the side near each recipe he tells u the level of difficulty, prep & cooking time, shortcuts, advanced work, even music suggestions 2 cook by & a drink suggestion! all of which makes this book worth buying! great recipes in a user-friendly way n makes it look gourmet!
a cookbook with a sense of humor! 25 recipes each with original & surreal artwork! recipes are easy & each recipe has suggestions such as accompaniments, wines, extra stuff you can add to the recipe 2 add an additional dimention 2 the recipe, also a key ingredientor step 2 give extra attention to. the book also has a blank wine journal in the back 4 you 2 list the wines you buy. plus alot of extra stuff in the back. fun book!
