This is a compilation of great writers and more than 125 spectacular color photographs. The work bears witness to the sacred beauty of nature, and the traces made by wind and water, fire and ice. From Iceland's glaciated and active volcanoes, to a journey over 5000 miles up the rift valley system from Zambezi to the Dead Sea. Magical mazes in the Caves, and lively lovely Barrier Reef. (The world is sacred, and now only human appreciation can save it from human defilement.)
This has been my go to book for animal overviews since I was a kid. I've always loved the habitat range maps and the quick summaries on possible sizes and such. This isn't a comprehensive animal atlas but still a great reference.

Excellent nonfiction for middle to late elementary school students. The index is mostly by animal, although a few key concepts are included, such as communication, courtship, and defenses. This would be a good basic reference for animal behavior, although a child interested in the subject would probably find it easy enough to read straight through.
A typical NG book/magazine. Superb pics....really, really good. The writing is, however, unreadable. So....look at the pics and then put the book away.
