Cold Snap is an addictive romantic thriller with nail-biting suspense, tension, and unexpected twists. The story is quite dark where Eli Kane is concerned, but that's to be expected from someone on the FBI's most wanted list.
I really liked Brynn. A refreshing female character; strong and resourceful. She showed what she was capable of in an emergency quite early in the story. She was a real heroine throughout much of this book and not a cliche damsel in distress.
Drama and intrigue abound, show more and the revelations made at the end took me completely by surprise. The author has such a way of writing characters that there was even a minute or two where I wanted everything to work out for the bad guy even though I knew what he had done in the past. A very tense final few scenes made this book very memorable.
I read this book in a day, and I couldn't put it down. An excellent read from start to finish. show less

Sea of Suspicion
4 Stars
A marine biologist at the Gatty Institute in Scotland, Susie Cooper wants to settle down and have a family. Unfortunately, the man her friend set her up with, Nick Archer, is more the love 'em and leave 'em type. Detective Inspector Nick Archer is obsessed with bringing the man who killed his wife to justice, and he is not above using Susie to do so. But when a student at the institute is murdered, he unwittingly draws Susie into the investigation and possibly makes show more her a target as well...
This is one of Anderson's earlier works and it has all the hallmarks of her excellent Cold Justice series. An intelligent and determined heroine, a sexy as sin detective and a page-turning mystery.
The suspense plot revolves around two separate threads - what really happened to Nick's wife and who killed the young student at the Gatty? Both are well-developed and the twists and turns keep the reader guessing. While it is possible to figure out the who-dun-it, the explanations really make one think about human nature and what people are capable of.
In terms of the romance, Nick and Susie have great chemistry. That said, there is a definite conflict between Susie's life goals and Nick's commitment issues. Moreover, some of his actions are morally questionable and legally unethical. It is actually difficult to believe that they can have a future together.
All in all, the plot is exciting with some excellent action scenes and the romance has potential. show less

LOVED this book.. You know you meet secondary characters in a book and they are so powerful that they almost over take that book and leave you really wanting their story. The author gave us that with this book and it was everything I’d hoped it be and more.
We met Marsh and Josie in Her Sanctuary (which I recommend reading before this one) and were left with huge unfinished business between these two. Both characters are so fascinating that you’re just drawn to them.
Josie Maxwell is a show more woman that has been through things that would have broken most women. She survived being carved up by a killer known as the Blade Hunter when she was small child. During this time her mother also left her and her father emotionally abused her until she ended up with a foster mother who showed her more love than she’d ever known in her life. She’s a bit of a chameleon with her emotions and in what she allows others to see. Now the Blade Hunter is back and is promising to finish what he started 18 years ago.
Marshall Hayes is a fairly straight and narrow FBI agent even though in the previous book he took some liberties with the law to make sure the heroine in that book stayed alive. This made him cross paths with Josie who is her best friend and during one night that was a combination of betrayal and also something else he realizes that Josie is probably the woman for him but his devotion to his job that stems from a tragedy in his own life made it impossible to see a future with her.
When the Blade Hunter makes an attempt on Josie’s life Marsh no longer stands on the sidelines. He will do everything within his power to protect Josie even if she wants nothing to do with him.
This book consisted of two mysteries that are weaved through the story along with the romance between Marsh and Josie. The killer was written with such brutality and obvious sickness that you were on the edge of your seat wondering what he was going to do next and who this person was that had a 18 year reign of killing women. From the opening scene I was turning the pages totally entranced in the story. I’ve loved all this authors books but at this moment this has to be my favorite. show less

Cold & Deadly
4 Stars
Rookie FBI agent Ava Kanas is convinced that her recently deceased mentor was murdered. Yet none of the higher-ups are willing to entertain the idea until a sniper attack results in the death of another agent. Now Ava joins forces with hostage negotiator Dominic Sheridan to get catch a predator who has the FBI in their sights.
Series note: This is the first book in the Cold Justice spin-off series focusing on a new set of characters. Nevertheless, characters from the show more original series play significant roles and as such, it is recommended that readers begin with [b:A Cold Dark Place|49987667|A Cold Dark Place (Cold Justice, #1)|Toni Anderson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1563821948l/49987667._SX50_SY75_.jpg|40351596]
An action-packed suspense plot and an engaging romance.
Ava is a rather prickly heroine. Despite her strength and intelligence, she has a chip on her shoulder and finds it difficult to trust others. This is problematic for a fledgling FBI agent as her impulsive actions and imprudent comments often get her into trouble.
Dominic is the exact opposite. As a member of the Crisis Negotiation Unit, he is always calm, collected, and in control except when it comes to Ava. They have great chemistry and it is entertaining to see the stoic agent discombobulated by his feelings.
The suspense plot is intense and exciting. There are several nail-biting moments and the ending is particularly satisfying. Although there are some good red herrings, it is possible to figure out the identity of the villain by paying careful attention.
Overall, a solid beginning to the spin-off and I look forward to reading the next book, which takes place in an uncommon setting - Indonesia. show less
