A great nonfiction text for elementary and middle school students, this title's reading level is very low and it's high interest. Callahan describes his experience surviving in a life raft for like 70 days after his sailboat sinks; adventures include fighting off sharks and killing fish & birds and eating them raw (I think--it's been a while since I read it). It made an excellent companion to the novel "The Cay" and probably "Hatchet". My kids really enjoyed my brief read-aloud (for a state show more test "parallel task") and it was read afterward by many of the kids voluntarily. show less
Again, another great book to show how to convert from fractions to decimals. I really like how this book shows you exactly how this process works and why the decimal is equal to the fraction!
This is an informational book about cancer with an overwhelming amount of information. This book provides information about what cancer is, how your body works, how your immune system works, the diagnosing of cancer, way to cope with the diagnosis, treatment, clinical trials, recurrent and terminal cancer, and where to get help.
