The Scent of the Gods by Fiona Cheong

Fiona Cheong is an excellent teacher and a wonderful human being. This first novel has charm, addresses family issues, informs of time and place, and while the characters remain young and as such have little access to depths in characterization, the writing is literary and descriptively succinct.
