Listed following the Welsh alphabet rather than the usual English order, this small volume gives over a thousand names, both old and new. Entries include meaning, derivation or a famous person who had the name. Explanations are shown in both Welsh and English and there is a Pronunciation Guide at the beginning. The list is not separated by gender as is common in baby name books; instead, male names are indicated by a † and female names by a •. Enwau Cymraeg would appeal to parents show more looking for unusual or ethnic names, genealogists, and historians. show less
A really good beginners guide that sits well alongside a duo lingo course.
Does not have as many words as Geiriadur Bach, but most of the useful ones. Although the print is very small, it is quite legible, but a magnifying glass would help.
Well, I learned a few words of Welsh in the zeal of having married a Welsh wife.
