I found this to be a top-notch examination of the African American experience in Korea, and it works really well as an explanation of how that war, and Truman's desegregation of the U.S. Armed Forces, contributed to the battle for desegregation in American civilian life. I'm not going to try an reiterated point after point from this book, better that you read it yourself, but I did find it interesting that the men of the 24th Infantry Regiment saw the disbanding of their unit as something of show more a slight, and that they were being scapegoated for the broader failures of U.S. 8th Army in Korean in 1950. It should be noted that the contemporary U.S. Army has active units upholding the honors of all four of the classic "Buffalo Solider" regiments. show less
