After punching a student at school, Maeve is sent to a special boarding school, Nightworld Academy. Maeve believes that she is going to a school for troubled teens; however, she soon discovers that everyone at Nightworld is a supernatural being: witches, shifters and vampires make up the student population. Maeve has tried her best to hide her visions after being told she was mentally ill, but at Nightworld Academy, she learns that she is a powerful future-sighted witch. Now, after starting show more classes to hone her powers, Maeve must decipher her deadly visions about her friend from school, Tessa and new classmate, Jake.
Nightworld Academy is a paranormal boarding school adventure. I really enjoyed the story's premise: Maeve discovers her visions are part of something greater, enabling her to help people and the supernatural beings she never knew existed. However, Maeve's character is a letdown and everyone around her treats her poorly. I do not understand the choice to integrate Maeve into the school without telling her about the supernatural aspects of it, but then expecting her to acclimate and understand everything immediately with absolutely zero background. I'm also confused as to whether or not her parents knew what kind of school this was, although it seems that Maeve's aunt was just like her. Maeve herself does not do a great job in making friends or making choices, although everyone seems to like her. I wish more time had been spent teaching Maeve about the supernatural world, her visions and what it meant to be a witch, shifter or vampire. show less

At last the time has arrived. Events are lining up and it appears the big bad vision Maeve had, and is desperate to prevent might actually be here. Is she strong enough to change the outcome? Will people die? Who will survive? Definitely NOT a standalone read!! One needs to have read the previous books in this series to understand all the nuances and relationships. But my oh my is it worth it!!! Things are finally being revealed, and the group have some leads to go on. Can Maeve FINALLY show more learn why she's supposedly so darned important in all this? We gain some new information on the history of her family, and send the group in a certain direction. One things for certain.... They're far better united than apart! I can't wait for Term Seven. This amazing group are only growing in power, knowledge and of course love. Enemies are rallying, the hidden enemy below the school haunts Maeve, and the future she saw seems to get closer by the minute. Filled with intrigue galore, layers of suspense, supernatural craziness, and one fierce female at the center willing to sacrifice herself to save everyone around her! show less
Magical intrigue! (Amelia and Matt's story!!!)
Yay!!! I love this peek inside a pair of characters within NIGHTWORLD ACADEMY series. At last we get to see deeper into the relationship of Amelia and Matt. How their romance started and blossomed, and what actually happened to get him into Ravenhold. Up to and including how he finally got out, and all the players involved. Tons of goodies for any fan of this series. Personally I think one need to have read the NIGHTWORLD ACADEMY series first in show more order to understand all the main players, and the subtext. However I guess it could be read without having read the other books. In true LJ Swallow fashion there's oodles of magic, snooty academy kids and caste systems within said academy....followed by caste systems within adults in the magical world. Good vs evil takes on new meaning in this exciting read!! I've long loved the character of Amelia, and it's fun seeing the other characters from the main series through this new perspective. Have fun! show less

I enjoyed Term One so was excited to listen to Term Two, I think I enjoyed this more than the first. Maeve annoyed me in the first book but I got to like her character in this one.
The storyline was gripping, It was fast-paced, the RH part is still slow burn, which in reality we are only on term two so makes total sense.
I’m eager to listen or read the next term now.
