The Coasters' (aka The Robins) first album, collecting singles.

4/4 (Great).

Not every track is a winner, but the ones that are are some of the best recordings of the 50's. "Down in Mexico" alone is enough greatness to carry an album.

The Coasters take turns singing pop arrangements of standards.

2.5/4 (Okay).

I don't know why this exists. It's like they wanted to be Nat King Cole. It's not bad, but it's definitely not what anyone buying a Coasters album wants to get.

10/8/24: Now playing in my iTunes library. 2006 "Court Jesters Of Rock And Roll" best of The Coasters. Such songs as "Charlie Brown", "Poison Ivy", and "Yakety Yak". The CD came in a metal tin. Great songs if you like this sort of thing, and who doesn't? Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group.
