Whether I'd recommend this book to you or not depends a lot on what you are looking for. If you just want the facts on plastic you'll probably end up being disappointed. But if you enjoy poetic writing and wider writings you might enjoy this one. Personally I was hoping more for the former. I did like the writing style but the actual ideas didn't flow as well as I was hoping. I really enjoyed the parts about plastic and its impacts (why I was first drawn to the book). Although I enjoyed some show more of the personal anecdotes I did unfortunately find that some of the other aspects the author decided to explore (especially the military ones) were less interesting to me (although there were still parts I liked).

Overall not a bad read but I did find myself wishing it had been a bit more focussed, especially since I found the plastic parts the strongest and most interesting (although that could also just be because of where my interests lie!). Some of the statistics were horrifying (even though I went in knowing they'd be bad).
