Claws took place in the Arizona wilderness, most of it. I found that immediately intriguing, as I am a resident of Arizona. Doubly, the main character was a big cat biologist, a secret passion of mine. The plot was heart-pounding, and the premise interesting...but I wasn't impressed with the way the characters were handled. I felt that more of the characters that became the victims were connectable than the actual main character herself. I feel that this book had extreme potential, but fell show more short with grammar mistakes and lack of character development. show less
This North Carolina based psychological thriller pulls the reader through a web of reality, psychoses and two-way mirror that will keep the reader guessing on which side of the looking glass you’re peering into…or out of. This was a bed-time read for me and I was sure to keep the lights on as the clock ticked into the wee hours of the morning. If there is not a screenplay in the works, I would be very surprised. From one chapter to the next, I could not help but see each character and show more the rustic North Carolina settings that embodied this mind-bending experience. What was real and what was imagined, The Loneliest kept me guessing, page after page. It has a spooky familiar Stephen King vibe that I couldn’t quite put my finger on, but like the characters in this book…you know it’s there. show less
A contemporary, earth-based quest story, with some interesting elements, but in the 3/4 of the book I read, no motivation was ever given for several main characters' willingness to put themselves at risk. After a while I didn't care much whether the quest succeeded, because the whole plot made little sense without the motivation.

Eddie & Sunny by Stacey Cochran is a different kind of read for me. Eddie and Sunny seem like a down on their luck couple that love each other. They live day by day, and one day they meet trouble, big trouble. It is a day that changes everything. Now, instead of barely surviving, now they are also running for their life... separate. I don't usual read crime fiction but this made me feel for this poor couple that couldn't seem to catch a break, life just kept getting worse. I won't give any show more spoilers but it is a book of love and hope. show less
