There's no way I could just plain read this through. It'd make a great reference for an author of historical fiction, though less of a good source for a would-be herbalist. The introduction makes a good case for it being special among all the related books out there (I wouldn't know as this is the first I've looked at). A couple of things it does that many others don't is List the Families in order of evolutionary development and List many common & folk names for each plant. I believe that show more only useful flowering plants are listed, not trees, grasses, or noxious ones like poison ivy.
