A short collection of short stories might seem insubstantial, especially when some of them are just six words long, but don’t be fooled! The shorter the story, the longer I spent thinking about it. I am still puzzling away at several of them. Miniature literary word puzzles - what’s not to like?Alongside two more substantial short stories subverting the myth of Santa Claus to explore the themes of matrimonial and parental love, are a range of witty short pieces, ranging from a couple of show more paragraphs to a couple of pages, often culminating in a punchline twist. This is flash fiction at its pithiest best.
Andrew Ferguson deploys his distinctive voice to bring us stories from the perspective of a mouse, a pickpocket and a child in the dentist’s chair. He has a facility for getting into the minds of children and their parents.
