Karaoke Chemistry by Valerie Pepper is simply a delight! Magnolia is a quiet chemistry teacher (and witch) in the sleepy town of Sacred River. She also moonlights as a secret karaoke singer who goes by an alias named Seven. She feels most like herself when she’s singing songs on the stage. She meets handsome older Riggs there and the two forge a connection that can’t be denied. There’s a problem, though. Magnolia is cursed and when she sings around someone she loves, they inevitably show more get hurt, so she can’t let herself fall for Riggs…right?
I adored this book and finished it in less than 24 hours. It has just the right combination of humor, sass, love, spice, and witchiness. The plot was great, the story moved along well, and I couldn’t get enough. I didn’t realize it was part of a series and now I have to read the first one. Riggs is dreamy. Magnolia is a strong FMC. I loved the focus on the female strengths in this book.
Overall, I gave this book a 5 out of 5 stars! Due to mature themes, I recommend this book for adults only. If you like small-town, workplace, witchy, slight age-gap romances with a dual POV and a side of magical tea, Rickrolls, and Britneys, this book is for you!
