Nan Shin (Nancy Amphoux) was a follower of a famous Zen monk, the late Taisen Deshimaru, and in this journal she describes life in the Master's dojo in Alsace, her world travels on behalf of his spiritual community, her love of nature and her personal struggles with cancer.

These strands are interwoven to make a marvellously evocative whole; aphoristic, witty, moving and deeply spiritual. The spirit of Zen - mischievous, yet deeply serious, strengthening and profound - infuses every page. show more Never has the spirit of 'Living Zen' been brought so vividly to life. The book is beautifully illustrated in black and white by Peter Watson. show less
