The Searching Stone is the second book in the trilogy by Frances Croft. Like the first, it follows the adventures of a group of children and their extraordinary animal friends as they seek to solve universal problems.

This is yet another riveting read from Frances Croft, who clearly knows her audience very well. The issues that are brought up within the text are sometimes ones that need to be addressed in a particular way, for example the problem of AIDS is dealt with in the book, and the show more fact that it leaves many children in Africa without parents and therefore reliant on other family members to look after them.

The Living Axe is the third in the trilogy by Frances Croft and finishes with an exciting climax when the most important issues of all are resolved.

The Living Axe flows well and is easy to read. Yet it deals with very serious issues that will affect the children of today when they become adults, as well as generations to come.
