A more introspective book than Once Upon an Island. I preferred the lighter first volume of Once Upon an Island
The Conovers move to Saltspring Island from Wallace Island to make school life easier for their son Davey. They barely survive one season of 'cilivization' before returning to Wallace. A good read
In the 1940's a young Los Angelos couple escape the rat race to beautiful British Columbia where they buy Wallace Island, just off Saltspring Island and build their home and a summer resort.
