"Brides and Promises: Mail Order Bride Romance" by Ruby Hill

My Rationalization:

These were three well-written stories that will give one thought to ponder over long after the read.

First, we have 'Finding Hope' as we have Grace Thackery thinking that she was to plain looking and feeling that she had to redo herself for her future husband. Only to find out show more what she needed was to
'be honest not only with herself and with others.' Will Grace be able to step out on faith and find hope?

Then we move on to 'The Bride's Heart' and find Hazel needs to learn to trust others after a traumatic event that happen to her with someone she thought she loved. What will happen when she attempts to start a new life as a mail-order bride? What will happen when Hazel meets Stephan Grant in Thorn Creek?

And then lastly we have 'Love's Chance' where Charlotte needing to learn how to be honest about what has gone in on her past. Growing up with servants, Charlotte couldn't cook, sew, do laundry or anything. Who in the world would want her for a mail-order bride? Well, without Paul Douglas from Hidden River, CA. knowing all that was going on with Charlotte this story will take on quite a read. If only Charlotte would have been honest all upfront things may have run a little smoother.

If you are looking for a 'sweet clean romance' stories that will touch your heart you have come to the right place. For Ms. Hills collection here will give it to you in some historical romances as we find Grace, Hazel, and Charlotte who will share there 'hopes, uncertainties, twists & turns and even surprises as they will find a new life and a HEA.

It was a different kind of mail order bride romance. The bride arrives to find no one but the stationmaster there to greet her. It turns out her groom-to-be had to assist at a baby's birth and forgot to send anyone to fetch her.

It seems implausible in today's world, but back when this was set, they had to be married right away in order to share a house for propriety's sake. Though he is anxious to have a wife, the doctor is very patient with his new bride, giving her time to get used to the show more idea.

Shortly after their marriage, a man is found dead near their home and the death is made to look like the doctor did it. Thankfully the sheriff is smart enough to realize the man he knows (the doctor) is not a killer--even so, the wife feels she must solve the mystery to clear her husband's name.

There's a big twist in the plot to explain who the killer is and why--but I'll make you read the book to find out what it is.

Clara's a mail order bride whose been married about a week. She chose the first man who responded to her and moved to marry him.

I don't think I've read this author before though I have read other books that feature a mail order bride as a main character before. Most of those have dealt with the process of signing up to be a mail order bride, finding a suitor, getting to the location, meeting him in person, and getting married. This one starts after they are already married.

I do wonder why show more Robert wanted a wife since he seems so reticent to share anything with her. Perhaps circumstances changed in the time it took her to travel there and them to get married? I can understand that he was trying to keep the guard a secret since they didn't know who was passing information on to the outlaws, but did he really expect that his wife wouldn't notice that he wasn't sleeping in his bed? And how was he existing without sleep? Did he catch sleep in the bunkhouse so as not to wake her by coming in late? One can only go for so long with no sleep.

There were a couple twists in the story that I didn't see coming.

"Sweet Western Hearts: Mail Order Bride Romance" by Ruby Hill

My Rationalization:

"If you love historical western and mail-order bride romance books with twists and turns, you will love this sweet and clean romance collection. Authors Note: These are clean, stand-alone romances, so there are no cliffhangers."

Love Can Wait:
Will Emma Jamieson [mail order show more bride] get used to the dusk storms along with her meeting Dr. Jonathan Newford. Would Emma get used to Jonathan being a doctor who would always be on call and she wouldn't see much of him? The story will get darker as there will be a murder in the town and fingers are pointing right at Jonathan. Will the bad person be caught? How will this all work out for Emma and Jonathan? By the end of this read, the author gives the reader quite a picture of what it was like living in Frankston.

Rancher's Heart:
Clara Penton was a mail order bride married to Robert Penton from Charbrook Colorado. After learning why Robert spoke very little to anyone including Clara. No wonder Clara was lead to believe he was on the wrong side of the law due to some of his actions. That was one thing about this story that I didn't care for and that was how silent Robert was to Clara making life quite hard for her. However, things will change and she finds out that maybe her family was involved. I will stop here and say you will have to pick up "Rancher's Heart" to see how this mystery in this well-written story will all come out.

Broken Betrothal:
What will Nora [mail order bride] do when she finds out her to be husband [Peter Shaw] has died? Will Nora except help by being a housekeeper for Joseph? This author really gives the reader quite a good well-written mystery when a creepy relative shows up that will definitely keep you turning the pages to see how this story will all turn out for Nora.

Westward for Love:
Life was heard for Annie who was a mail-order bride with life going well for her until her older husband Paul dies suddenly. And she is left with an adult son, Simon who for some reason makes the most of his time terrorizing her and wanting Annie to marry him. What will happen where Laura and her brother Joe come into the picture? How will this story all come together? Well, you will have to pick up 'Westward for Love' to see if there will be a happy ending for Annie.

Love Is Kind:
This was a hard read in how Alice mail order bride was treated by her husband. She was indeed a resilient young woman who was married to one 'unfeeling man' who dies the same day their son was born. How will she make it having to take care of her son and a farm by herself? Well, to find out you will have to pick up "Love Is Kind" to find out.

What I enjoyed by all of these five nice collections of mail order brides western historical romances was that they were a 'clean and sweet' read. It was really something seeing how theses five mail order brides did have one thing in common and that was loneliness that drove each one to take a leap of faith that their lives would be changed by making this move. Did I have a favorite one? No, I enjoyed reading all of them! Would I recommend "Sweet Western Hearts: Mail Order Bride Romance Collection?" YES!
