It's time for the show! Dan the taxi man must pick up all the rock-n-roll band members and their instruments. The band members each get their own rhyming jingle that corresponds to their specific instruments as they get into the taxi. The song grows progressively longer as more band mates appear. Finally, they arrive at the show, but something is not quite right-- until Dan joins the band as the lead singer. Most illustrations cover a whole spread, and these sweeping yet detailed oil paint show more pictures combined with the repetitive "Climb inside while you still can/ with Dan,/ Beep! Beep!/ the Taxi Man" make this an excellent pick for reading aloud and storytime. Adult readers will chuckle at the 70's-era rock-n-roll outfits, while children will delight in singing along to the repeating chant. Recommended for ages 3-8. show less
What a wonderful illustrated book! Pete (the boy) and Larry (his dog) are at Grandma's farm when the Bookmobile comes. Larry feels left out so he goes aboard and finds himself in the city, in the big library building, and taking the grand tour! Did I mention that the illustrations are brilliant? Terrific for any age and perfect for ESL.

A sweet, poetic book about Larry the dog and his experience in a public library. The book starts with the introduction of book mobiles and then runs through all the aspects of a public library through the eyes of Larry. Soon he is discovered and returned back to his family on their farm.
Eric Ode's Sea Star Wishes is full of sweet and funny "Poems from the Coast." Ode, a Washington State resident, captures the look and feel of the West Coast with his poems about sea urchins and ferry boats and fishermen. Complementing the poems is the beautiful artwork by 2011 Washington State Book Award winner Erik Brooks. This collection of poetry would be a valuable resource when teaching students about sea life and a great place for students to start some poetry writing of their own. A show more must have for any coastal Elementary School teacher or Teacher Librarian. show less
