GENERAL THOMAS, The Great Commanders Series by Henry Coppee

This second biography on Thomas, (the first written 1882 by R. W. Johnson) covers some of the same information in the first. A few new anedotal stories and very little battle information. Although critical of Grant and Sherman his writing leans towards being politically correct with obvious concern of toucing nerves of those invididuals that were still alive. He does provide information on General Thomas' pall bearers which were Meade, Rosecrans, Scofield, Newton, Hazen, Granger, McKay and show more Hooker. Gen Thomas' adjunct was a Kellogg his nephew by marriage. show less
