Excellent introduction to contemporary metaphysics. Loux gives proper covereage of the major views regarding realism and nominalism, endurantism and perdurantism, B and A theory, and much more.
However, Loux gives little coverage of fictionalism, and perhaps could make the work more accessible by actually cutting out some of the excess verbiage and superfluous reiteration -- these things often add clarity but in rare cases can cause a great deal of misunderstanding, and can make the reader show more view the piece (book or chapter) as a daunting task. For a SAQed version of chapters 1, 2, 3, and 5, feel free to contact me. If Loux is uncomfortable with this, I understand and will do as he suggests. show less
