Dahlia inherits her aunt's bookshop and home, but every move she makes, at least those that need funds from her aunt's estate, is thwarted by the person her aunt chose as trustee of the estate. Every time Dahlia requests money to make improvements, Agnes tells her no. Agnes was her aunt's best friend, and had always treated Dahlia kindly, until now. But if Dahlia fails at the bookshop, Agnes inherits it. This romance has some mystery to it, and some tense moments, but mostly, it is a gentle show more tale of someone trying to make a new beginning and of falling in love. The characters are interesting, as is the plot. All in all, it's quite a lovely story. show less
Maggie, a widow whose husband died overseas, is a hardworking mom, raising her young son and working in her cafe. Her brother-in-law, Jake, just out of the military, comes to visit, and to help Maggie any way he can, honoring his promise to his brother. What Jake didn’t count on was having feelings for Maggie that went beyond those of just a brother-in-law. This romance has its ups and downs, and a tense moment or two, but promises to be a sweet read. It’s a nice story, with likable show more characters, and no villains to spoil it. show less
Gretchen works in real estate with her parents, but wants to be out on her own. Parker also works for his parents and also wants to be out on his own. They both need this soon to be available dream job to make that happen. They meet by chance downtown, and have lunch together. It’s wonderful. But then, other meetings don’t go so well. It is easy to see how this on will end, and even little plot points along the way are obvious. It’s not very exciting, and characters aren’t terribly show more well developed. It’s not a bad story by any means, just not a great one, and not as good as the first one in the series. show less
