Short biography
[from Amazon website]
Robert Cotner has been a teacher, a poet, an editor, and a scholar. But he's best know these days as a fundraising executive at Shriners Hospitals for Children - Chicago. Before joining SHC-C, Cotner was, for 15, years the Director of Development for the Salvation Army, Chicago.

In the years before his development work, he was a teacher of English in high schools and a professor of English at a number of colleges and universities, including the University of Liberia, where he was Fulbright Lecturer in English, 1971-72. He has maintained a close association with the life of the mind, and writes and lectures frequently on literary and cultural subjects, including classic cars -- Auburns, Cords, and Duesenbergs are his specialty -- the great Corliss Centennial Engine, Abraham Lincoln, and traditional hymns of the church.

A Robert Frost scholar, he is active in a number of literary programs related to the poet. In 2004 season, he was guest lecturer at the Robert Frost Stone House Museum, South Shaftsbury, VT.

In 1993, Cotner was elected Centennial President of the Caxton Club of Chicago, and he founded the Caxtonian, a literary journal, which he edited until 2004.

His book, Pilgriming: A Journey Into the Faith of Age (2008), brings these diverse strands together in a compelling look at life in the early years of the 21st Century and in an important book for our time.
