Vincent Hunt

Vincent Hunt is a writer and award-winning BBC documentary maker who gathers his material face-to-face in his search to get to the heart of a story. He has crossed America, Europe and Africa making documentaries about key moments in world history, including post-colonialism in Africa, the US civil show more rights movement, and the Troubles in Northern Ireland. In Blood in the Forest he travels through western Latvia meeting eyewitnesses to the overlooked chapter of the Second World War known as the Courland Pocket. He goes deep into the forests to hear graphic accounts of long-forgotten battles and terrible atrocities and meets 'Diggers' still recovering the fallen from their battlefield graves. This is Hunt's second book about the end of the Second World War. His first, Fire and Ice (The History Press, 2014) was praised for its meticulous research (History of War magazine) gathering stories of the Nazi scorched earth retreat through northern Norway in 1944. show less
