"Summer's Desire", by Kathleen Ball, is a 150+ page read for $4.99. It's a "Cowboy Romance" - and a really fun one! Summer is trying to leave her small town so she answers an ad to watch four boys for the new vet in town - not realizing that the four boys are actually bigger than her and aged 12-19! So obviously, we all know that she & Holden, the vet (& oldest brother - not father) are going to fall in love. However, Holden has a past that comes back to haunt him, and Summer has been show more accused by some in the small town of being complicit in the beating death of her former boss, and mentor -- and the person who actually committed the murder is still at large. It's interesting to see how Summer and Holden face these obstacles while trying to figure out their relationship -- and really, the fact that I said "Cowboy Romance" should have sold you right then & there. And should I mention that the cowboys are shirtless when she meets them? 'Nuff said.

This is a quick and easy romance. I love Ryelee and how strong she really is (even though she doesn't think so). I was a bit disappointed with Clint's attitude. He wanted her to trust him but he didn't trust her. Rheenie seems so sweet and sensitive that you have to love her. I would love to see a sequel with Rheenie all grown up and looking for love.
This book touches some issues: lies, abuse, scandal, etc. Addy wasn't completely upfront about everything. Keegan hasn't been upfront about things on his end either. Peg is the most innocent and endearing party who is in the middle of all this. I just love Peg's heart. So willing to embrace people and call them "Daddy"--no doubt, she has some form of PTSD due to a past history of abuse and needs some security and a lot of tender loving care from a paternal figure. She wormed her way into the show more hearts of Cookie, Shane (the sheriff) and Keegan. And naming the animals, Kooky One, Kooky Two, etc was a hilarious touch. show less
I am not sure yet how I want to rate this book, now don't get me wrong, it is a very good book and this is the second time I have read it. I just am not sure if I will ever read it again which is what my key thought in ranking any book is.

Callie returns from college walks into home a finds her husband (in name only) kissing another woman and things just cascade downhill from there. Garrett O'Neil loves his very young wife and only wants to do right by her but keeps screwing it up and has no show more clue how to fix it because when it comes to women he doesn't have the brains God gave a monkey. There are few minor characters who deserve a quick mention also there is Stamos the FBI Agent who really likes Callie and then there Sylvie the gold digging bimbo who are both basically monkey wrenches getting in the way of the couples connubial bliss.

I felt this book was a rather slow and took its time but then the emotional roller coaster was a definite whopper of a ride, with all the ups downs and loopy-loops, If it were a real roller coaster I could say my stuck was still stuck somewhere on the ride. I needed to stop reading a couple of times and read something else because the emotional intensity was just too much at times. Yes it had some boring parts but those were few and far between. The characters were well thought out and written and you could really connect especially with Callie. I did enjoy reading this and think it has potential to be a classic and I reckon that says something about the book in itself.
