Thank you to Kodansha Comics for this copy in exchange for my honest review!
I haven’t read the original Witch Hat Atelier, but I decided to pick up Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen Vol. 1 as a standalone spinoff. The volume opens with a collection of fictional recipes that seem to tie back to the main series before transitioning into the manga’s narrative format. As the title suggests, this story is entirely centered around food, each chapter celebrates show more cooking, creativity, and the joy of sharing meals in a magical world.
While I didn’t find myself connecting strongly with any of the characters, I did enjoy the imaginative dishes and cozy tone. Readers familiar with the original manga will likely appreciate this spinoff more, as it expands the world and adds a charming, slice-of-life flavor to it. show less
