Charles Chauvel was the first of Australia's great filmmakers and is well worthy of a biography or two. "Featuring Australia" is an academic study of Chauvel's work, rather than a warts and all look at whatever he might have gotten up to in his private moments, so it's a relatively dry read.
We get a description of each of his films, including his last (and probably most famous) film "Jedda", with its Aboriginal leading man and woman (a first) and a little of his life. Chips Rafferty, as show more always, makes a welcome appearance. show less
