About the Author

George Cuomo was born in the Bronx, New York in 1929. He received a bachelor's degree in English from Tufts University and a master's degree from Indiana University. Before becoming a professor and author, he worked as a newspaper copy editor, a factory hand, an advertising and public relations show more writer, and as assistant to the vice president of a New York corporation. He taught English and writing at several colleges including the University of Victoria in British Columbia and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he taught for 20 years. He wrote books, poems, and essays. His story, A Part of the Bargain, was included in the 1963 anthology Stories for the Sixties. His books include The Hero's Great, Great, Great, Great, Great-Grandson; Becoming a Better Reader and Writer; and A Couple of Cops.
