I was able to teach myself to weave using this and the companion book 'Designing with the Wool.' That is like teaching a duck to play the flute. This book has everything anyone would need to learn to weave in the Navajo style.
"Navaho Weaving is an organic craft. The tools are basic, the process rhythmic, and the whole weaver-loom relationship a very natural one."

This book has systematic instructions on what materials are needed to build a loom from scratch, Then instructions on how to set it up, Then instructions on beginning weaving, Then how to design the Navaho way. Then how to adjust for whatever may go wrong.
This authoritative volume brings together previous 3 books, Working w/wool, Designing w/the Wool and The Weaver's Pathway, with updates and revisions-as well as excerpts from other published articles and books by Noel and Tiana about navajo weaving, culture, and history. Detailed charts and illustrations help the weaver find her way step-by-step through the making of a first sampler and through several more advanced techniques. Brilliant photographs by John Running illuminate the pages.
