I wonder what's happened to books that had characters like "A Dying Fall". They're smart, they're acerbic, they're not self-involved, and they enjoy their lives. This book was written in 1973, and centers on a tightly knit suburban neighborhood group and the art center the story revolves around. It has a wonderful, lively group of characters, and feels more modern than today in some ways, specifically the way the characters who happen to be homosexual or older are handled.

There's something show more snappy and refreshing about the whole book that made it an enjoyable read. This is the second book I've read by Ms. Dolson (I've been bookmooching them, since they are out of print) and I'll be looking for more of her gems. show less
